「黒もん」として親しまれる黒薩摩は、深みのある艶やかな黒釉と、控えめで洗練された美しさが特徴の薩摩焼の一様式です。長い歴史に根ざし、土の温かみと手仕事の豊かさを活かしながら、現代的なシンプルさと上品さを併せ持っています。
Black Satsuma ware, affectionately known as “Kuro-mon,” is a style of Satsuma-yaki characterized by its deep, lustrous black glaze and refined, understated beauty. Rooted in tradition, it blends the warmth of clay and craftsmanship with modern simplicity and elegance.

特徴的な黒釉は均一な黒ではなく、焼成によるわずかな揺らぎを含み、器に奥行きと静かな表情を与えます。そのため一点ごとに異なる個性が生まれます。
The black glaze is not uniform, but shows subtle variations created during firing, giving each piece depth, quiet movement, and unique character.

歴史的には白薩摩が薩摩藩の御用として発展したのに対し、黒薩摩は庶民の日常の器として広まりました。そば釉仕上げの器も黒薩摩に含まれます。
Historically, while White Satsuma was made for the ruling class of the Satsuma domain, Black Satsuma developed as everyday tableware. Pieces finished with soba glaze are also included.

□ 苗代川（なえしろがわ）焼　Naeshirogawa-yaki ware

苗代川焼（なえしろがわやき）は、現存する薩摩焼の三系統のひとつであり、その中でも最も古い歴史を持つ伝統的な窯です。長い年月にわたり受け継がれてきた技法と美意識を今に伝えています。荒木陶窯の登録商標でもあり、正統な系譜を持つ薩摩焼として知られています。
Naeshirogawa ware is one of the three surviving lineages of Satsuma-yaki and is the oldest among them. It is a traditional kiln that preserves techniques and aesthetics handed down through generations. It is also a registered trademark of ArakiToyo and is recognized as an authentic lineage of Satsuma ware.
